The distance learning course "Support for foster families" has been completed. It was conducted by the Center for Family Structure and Church Care for Children at the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service. The training was organized for psychologists, church specialists, and social project staff who provide assistance to families with foster children.
The course consisted of six online classes and was aimed at training specialists to provide comprehensive assistance to foster families, including families raising children with disabilities.
The first classes of the course were devoted to the spiritual foundations of foster family support. The clergy spoke about the importance of spiritual support, the Orthodox approach to helping families, and the role of the church community in accompanying foster parents.
During the course, participants discussed the main issues of psychological support for foster families, the specifics of interacting with children who have experienced traumatic experiences, as well as the specifics of helping families raising children with disabilities.
The audience was particularly interested in practical exercises with the participation of experienced foster parents. They shared their experiences of raising children, talked about the difficulties faced by families and effective ways to overcome them.
The final webinar was attended by parents of children with disabilities who shared their experiences of receiving support and support.
The training took place within the framework of the project "Professionals nearby 2.0". The project is being implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.
