On November 24, 2024, Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church presided over the hierarchical liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Sava in London, where he conducted the enthronement of Bishop Nektarios. Bishop Nektarios is the first hierarch of the newly established Diocese of London and Britain-Ireland, as reported by the Serbian Church's official website.

The decision to create the new diocese was made during a session of the Holy Synod of Bishops in May 2024. It involved dividing the former Diocese of Britain and Scandinavia into two separate dioceses: the Scandinavian Diocese, based in Stockholm, and the Britain-Ireland Diocese, headquartered in London. The new diocese was established to provide pastoral care for the growing Serbian diaspora, which now numbers approximately 40,000 people, most of whom reside in London.

The enthronement ceremony was attended by numerous bishops, clergy, and laypeople from various Orthodox Churches, as well as representatives of British and Serbian secular authorities. Notable guests included Prince Michael of Kent, officials from the Serbian government and diplomatic corps, and representatives of other Christian denominations, including the Anglican, Roman Catholic, and Assyrian Churches.

In his address, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of repentance and spiritual renewal, reminding attendees that these begin with the acknowledgment of one's errors and the strengthening of love for others.

A message from King Charles III of the United Kingdom was read during the ceremony. The King expressed hope that the establishment of the new diocese would deepen ties between the Serbian Orthodox and Anglican Churches, as well as strengthen the bonds between the peoples of Serbia and the UK. He also fondly recalled his visit to Serbia and meetings with Serbian spiritual leaders.

In his remarks, Bishop Nektarios described his appointment as a spiritual calling and responsibility. He highlighted the significance of pastoral work and the need to follow the example of Christ, who "came not to be served, but to serve."
