With the blessing of His Eminence Arseny, Metropolitan of Lipetsk and Zadonsky, and His Grace Maxim, Bishop of Yelets and Lebedyansky, the Lipetsk Archdiocese is hosting a historical and ecclesiastical lesson competition dedicated to the ministry and feat of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia. The competition was organized by the Metropolitan Commission for the Canonization of Saints and the Preparation of Liturgical Texts in cooperation with Orthodox gymnasiums of the Lipetsk region in a series of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the blessed repose of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, opening a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the death of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, said: "The example of St. Tikhon's feat is relevant in our difficult times, when we have to fight for the unity of our Church, for the unity of our Fatherland and people, to defend spiritual and cultural identity. Russia, to resist the attempts of unfriendly countries to impose alien ideals and values on us. I am convinced that holding commemorative events in honor of the saint will allow our compatriots to become more familiar with his life and through this acquaintance to be inspired by his courage and firmness of faith."
The competition is held among teachers of state and non-state educational institutions teaching spiritual and moral subjects based on the Orthodox tradition, teachers of Sunday and parish schools, students of higher educational institutions of theological, historical, pedagogical profiles.
