An ancient icon "Introduction to the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary" will be installed in the Peter and Paul Church, which will be built next to the Paraskeva Friday Church in Barabanovo, Krasnoyarsk Territory. It was established in 1894. This was told by the rector of the temple Alexey Yazev. He assumes that the icon was painted by the master Ivan Toshevnikov. He probably created it for an unknown rural church in Siberia, since St. Innocent of Irkutsk is depicted in one of the stamps.
According to the priest, an acquaintance gave him the icon six or seven years ago. It was in an unsatisfactory condition — the colors turned out to be dull, and a deep crack spread across the faces. Then the icon was removed to the storeroom, where it stood for several years.
— Then, I remember, my colleagues and I discussed very vigorously the prospect of building our new Peter and Paul Temple in Barabanovo. And for some reason I decided that this particular icon would look wonderful there," said Alexey Yazev.
The icon was given to restorers, and specialists worked on it for more than a year. It was completely restored. Now the roof is being installed in the Peter and Paul Church, the first services there are just around the corner, Alexey Yazev notes.
The Small Peter and Paul Temple is being built to preserve the building of the Paraskeva Friday Church. During winter services, condensation collects in the room, which negatively affects wooden structures and can lead to destruction. Therefore, divine services during such periods will be held in the new church.
