Metropolitan Nikita of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk, interim administrator of the Yenisei Diocese, consecrated the bust of St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) in the village of Bolshaya Murta in the Bolshemurtinsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory on September 29, 2026.
The monument is installed in front of the building of the surgical building of the district hospital, where in 1940-1941, while in exile, the future saint-confessor operated. The initiative to create the monument belongs to lawyer, presenter of the TV channel "Spas" and writer Pavel Astakhov, as well as patrons. The main installation and construction works were completed on September 25. The surrounding area has also been landscaped: in the future, it is planned to equip a square with benches, lanterns and flower beds.
The opening ceremony of the monument began with an archpastoral speech: Vladyka Nikita noted the importance of preserving the memory of St. Luke and his legacy for present and future generations, after which he presented the medal of the Yenisei Diocese to Pavel Astakhov and episcopal diplomas to all those involved in the monument's appearance.
Pavel Astakhov also addressed the audience, telling how the idea of creating a bust of St. Luke appeared and how it was implemented. The head of the Bolshemurtinsko-Sukhobuzimsky municipal district, Valery Werner, noted the significance of the event for the residents of the district. Roman Barinov, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, stressed the importance of such events and handed Pavel Astakhov a certificate from Governor Mikhail Kotyukov.
Then the solemn opening of the monument took place, after which Metropolitan Nikita performed the rite of consecration. His Eminence was co-served by Archpriest Ilya Koshlyak, Secretary of the Yenisei Diocese, Archpriest Sergiy Ryzhov, rector of St. Luke's Church in Bolshaya Murta, and the clergy of the Krasnoyarsk Archdiocese.
At the end of the service, flowers were laid at the bust of St. Luke.
