The Church of Archangel Michael in Borodyanka, Kiev region, was seized at night by supporters of the non-canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU). This was reported by the Telegram channel "Watch on the First Cossack".

According to him, when parishioners prayed in the church, the supporters of the OCU cut off the locks on the doors. Clashes began, the attackers were helped by the police.

As the Telegram channel clarifies, all this happened under the leadership of one of the clerics of the OCU, who brought with him people in military uniforms.
Earlier, the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported that on July 9 in Borodyanka, supporters of the OCU held a meeting of the territorial community and transferred the church of Archangel Michael from the subordination of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) to the OCU. However, until now, services of supporters of the UOC have been held there.

In recent years, the Ukrainian authorities have taken a course to oust the UOC, including encouraging the transition of its religious communities to the jurisdiction of the PCU, created in 2018 from two schismatic religious structures. The local authorities deprive the UOC of the right to lease land for temples, with their encouragement, the supporters of the OCU forcibly seize the temples of the canonical church, attack the priests. According to the latest data, 65 criminal cases have been opened against the priests of the UOC by the Security Service of Ukraine, sanctions have been imposed against 17 clerics, and 19 hierarchs have been deprived of the country's citizenship. Despite this, according to the State Service of Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience of Ukraine, at least 5-6 million residents remain parishioners of the UOC in the country.
