On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and participants of the VIII Children's Sailing Regatta in memory of St. Tsarevich Alexy took place at the Memorial Church on Blood in Yekaterinburg.
The competitions were held on the eve, July 13, at the DOSAAF Russian Maritime School, in the waters of the Verkh-Isetsky Pond, in various competitions for 8 yacht classes: Optimist, First, Cadet, Luch, Volkerbey, Navigator, Swallow, Two-masted yacht.". 210 children and teenagers between the ages of 6 and 17 took part in the regatta. More than 80 vessels were launched.
Before the award ceremony, the head of the archdiocese reminded the children about the spiritual component of the regatta.
– I would like to wish Tsarevich Alexy to always help you in your life. He's a good guy. He's kind. Have you ever seen his icon? She's here in the temple. When you are all rewarded, you can go to the icon where Tsarevich Alexy's family is — Tsar Nicholas, Tsarina Alexandra and his sisters, and himself. You can say, "Tsarevich Alexei, thank you for helping, and please help me always. And I will try to be like you," Metropolitan Evgeny told the children.
– The idea was originally educational. We really wanted the guys to gather under the name of the holy Tsarevich Alexy. Firstly, the young prince was also a yachtsman, he was very fond of the sea, and was engaged in it, and studied the sea elements, maps and navigation. That's why I wanted this name to unite everyone together. During the Tsarist days, we really want the guys to spend some bright days together during the holidays," said Vsevolod Sergeyevich Krivtsov, head of the Council of the Brotherhood of Orthodox Pathfinders of Russia.
The children's sailing regatta is held with the support of the Yekaterinburg branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society. The annual sailing regatta is organized by the Brotherhood of Orthodox Pathfinders and the Yekaterinburg Diocese, the Center for Patriotic Education "Caravella".
– Sailing is not only a sport where you demonstrate your ship management skills. It really is a school of courage, a school of camaraderie, a school of faith. And it's really great that you go out on the water under the name of Tsarevich Alexy, because for all Orthodox Christians he is a symbol of innocence, a symbol of purity and a symbol of sincere and deep faith in God," said Inna Leonidovna Batalova, Chairman of the Yekaterinburg regional branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society.
On this day, Bishop Eugene presented the diocesan award to Ekaterina Anatolyevna Yesina and cordially thanked the Yekaterinburg branch of the IOPS, represented by Inna Leonidovna Batalova, for supporting the Children's Sailing Regatta.
