On August 18, the Main Russian Armed Forces’ Cathedral hosted a round table themed "Spiritual foundations of Russian statehood and military service to the Motherland: history of development and cooperation between the Church and the Army. The event was held as part of the International military and technical forum "Army-2022".
In his
opening address Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel General Victor Goremykin noted
that the military victory is always preceded by a spiritual victory.
Military chaplains stay with the military units and hold Divine services right in the field conditions. Given the high demand for worship and religious rites among servicemen, who are practicing believers, the Russian Ministry of Defense has started work on producing mobile chapels and churches for field conditions. Designers and engineers have developed two types of projects: a mobile chapel based on the UAZ Patriot vehicle

and a field church based on a modified version of the army tent.

The work of military chaplains is expanding. Today, those of them who are based with the troops, provide spiritual support to service members and civilian personnel in Russia, Ukraine, the Syrian Arab Republic, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. They are also present in peacekeeping force in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The work of
military clergy is coordinated by a specially created department in the Head
Military and Political Department of the Russian Armed Forces. As of now, there are more than 300 places of
worship in the Russian Army.
