On the 25th Week of Pentecost, December 15, 2024, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia performed the rite of the great consecration of the Church of the Resurrection of the Living in Maryinsky Park in Moscow and the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.
Three thrones were consecrated: the central one in honor of the Resurrection of the Living; the southern one in honor of St. Luke of the Crimea; the lower one in honor of St. Vitaly of Alexandria. His Holiness also consecrated 25 antimins. In total, 120 antimins have been consecrated by the Primate of the Russian Church since the beginning of the year.
The service was broadcast live on the Soyuz and Spas TV channels, as well as on the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Патриархия.ги .
Special petitions were offered at a special litany, and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill read a prayer for Holy Russia.
At the end of the Liturgy, the rector of the church, Archpriest Sergiy Volkov, greeted His Holiness and presented His Holiness with an icon of St. Luke of the Crimea.
The Primate of the Russian Church addressed the participants of the divine service with a Primatial word, in which, in particular, he said: "To whom more is given, more will be asked. I would really like these words to be remembered forever by those people who gain great political power or receive sufficient, and sometimes even super-sufficient financial opportunities. And may the Lord help all of us — those in power, those with a lot of money, those who live on average, and those who live very modestly. So that we can live without envying each other, without hurting each other, and this is possible only when we all belong to the Church together, because in the Church we all stand equal, no one is above the other. If, through participation in church life, we gain wisdom, the ability to properly dispose of material resources, if any, and calmly accept the conditions in which we live, if there are not enough of them, then all reasons for internecine warfare, for wild competition, for eating each other, for committing evil deeds in the name of the name of personal well-being, that is, everything that overthrows such a clear and very important concept as genuine human happiness. And happiness is a synonym for salvation. Happiness is what the Lord calls us to do."
As a gift to the newly consecrated church, His Holiness gave the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
At the end of the service, the clergy distributed icons of St. Luke of the Crimea with the Patriarchal blessing to the faithful.
