On February 17, 2026, Father Alessandro Margerentino, a representative of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), made an official visit to Poland at the invitation of Metropolitan Savva, the head of the Polish Orthodox Church. The visit coincided with celebrations for Orthodox Youth Day, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the two Churches.
During his stay in Warsaw, Father Margerentino engaged in discussions focused on fostering cooperation, which included plans for joint charitable projects and the expansion of youth ministry initiatives.
Following the meetings, the representative traveled to Lublin, where over 200 young participants from Poland and other nations gathered to celebrate Orthodox Youth Day, traditionally linked to the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord. The event featured a variety of activities such as prayers, the Divine Liturgy, lectures, cultural exchanges, and workshops aimed at deepening spiritual understanding and fostering connections among youth from different countries.
Father Margerentino participated in the religious services and conveyed greetings from Metropolitan Tikhon and the faithful of the American Church to the attendees. Additionally, he visited church social institutions, including the ELEOS charity organization, which provides support to the needy and refugees. Recent projects by ELEOS have received partial funding from the American Church, illustrating the ongoing commitment to humanitarian efforts.
