On August 10, the patronal feast day will be celebrated by the Odigitrievsky Cathedral in Ulan-Ude with solemn divine services and a traditional procession through the central streets of Ulan-Ude with the main shrine of the cathedral – the icon of the Mother of God "Odigitria" Smolenskaya.
On the eve of August 9, and on the day of the celebration itself, festive divine services will be held in the upper church of the Odigitrievsky Cathedral. On August 10, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Procession will begin around 11 o'clock.
This event has deep spiritual significance for all Orthodox residents of the Republic of Buryatia. The procession will begin from the Odigitrievsky Cathedral, which is currently the main church of the Republic, and proceed to the Assumption Cathedral under construction, as if taking over the inheritance. It is this majestic temple that will become the main temple of the Republic of Buryatia upon completion.
The spiritual link between the two churches is very symbolic. During the procession, the faithful, led by Metropolitan Joseph of Ulan-Ude and Buryat and the diocesan clergy, pray for the speedy completion of the construction of the Assumption Cathedral.
At the end of the Procession, a festive concert and a communal meal in the field kitchen will take place in the open air at the walls of the Assumption Cathedral.
