On May 9, 2025, a military parade was held on Red Square in Moscow to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Before the start of the parade, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in the Kremlin welcomed the leaders of foreign states who arrived in Moscow to participate in the celebrations.
The parade began with the removal of the national flag of Russia and the Victory Banner to Red Square. Then there was a speech by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Together with the head of the Russian state, the heads of foreign delegations were on the podium.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia was among the guests of honor at the podium.
The parade was also attended by Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensk, Managing Director of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop Alexy of Ramenskoye, Personal Secretary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, and V.R. Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media.
The parade was commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation, Army General Oleg Salyukov. The parade was hosted by Defense Minister Andrei Belousov.
