On May 21, 2026, the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the rite of the great consecration of the Ascension Church in Elektrostal and celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.
The clergy of the Moscow Archdiocese, representatives of the city administration, builders and benefactors of the temple, students of the Andrei Rublev Orthodox Classical Gymnasium and numerous believers prayed during the service.
At the end of the Liturgy, the glorification of the feast of the Ascension of the Lord was celebrated. Bishop Nikolai of Balashikha and Orekhovo-Zuyevsky greeted the Primate of the Russian Church and presented him with an icon of the Ascension of the Lord.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed the participants of the divine service with the Primatial word, and presented the image of the Savior Not Made with Hands to the parish.
Church awards were also presented to those who contributed to the construction of the Ascension Cathedral. The rector of the church, Archpriest Sergius Poddubny, was awarded the Order of St. Sergius of Radonezh, III degree.
Icons of the Ascension of the Lord with the Patriarchal blessing were distributed to all participants of the divine service.
