Orthodox Pascha (Easter) Celebrated by Three Quarters of Population in Russia

Three-quarters of Russians (75%) reported they were going to celebrate Pascha (Easter); among Orthodox citizens, the proportion is 90%, according to a survey by the Public Opinion Foundation.

According to the results of the poll, published on the Public Opinion Foundation website, 38% of Russians plan to have their Easter cakes blessed. Nearly half (48%) of fellow citizens who consider themselves Orthodox believers do so.

On the occasion of Easter 44% of respondents intend to have a family party to celebrate the feast. Among the Orthodox 53% plan to celebrate the holiday this way.

The All-Russian poll was conducted April 8-10 among 1,500 respondents in 104 locations in 53 regions of the Russian Federation.
