On September 30, the vicar of the Novospassky Monastery, Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection, consecrated the crosses on the dome and domes of the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in the city of Lyubim.
Bishop Veniamin of Rybinsk and Romanovo-Borisoglebsky, clergy of the Rybinsk diocese, prayed during the divine service.
The church in the name of the Nativity of the Prophet and Baptist John was built in the 18th century, closed during the Soviet years and was used for a long time for other purposes. The temple building was handed over to the faithful in a dilapidated state. Since 2012, renovation work has begun, and worship services have resumed. Currently, philanthropist Viktor Ivanovich Taryshkin, who was also present at the consecration of the domes, is helping in the restoration and restoration of the temple.
Lyubim is the hometown of Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection. Here he took his first steps towards God, from childhood he served in the altar and sang in the choir of the Savior-on-the-Cross Church. And, of course, he never remained indifferent to the destroyed shrines of his small homeland.
