On July 10, 2026, Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, and A.V. Loginov, Rector of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), signed an agreement on cooperation between universities in the field of science, education and enlightenment.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of the Russian State University P.P. Shkarenkov, Director of the Historical and Archival Institute of the Russian State University A.K. Sorokin, and the Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of the Moscow State University, Priest Pavel Lizgunov.
In accordance with the agreement, the MDA and the RGGU will cooperate in the field of educational, research, and educational activities. The parties agreed to hold joint conferences, seminars and round tables on a regular basis. It is planned to prepare joint events dedicated to the historical and archival field of activity in the humanities.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
