The Legal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate has issued a comment in connection with the inspection of the condition of the icon of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, painted by St. Andrei Rublev, which is located in the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra.
According to clause 2.1.3. of the agreement dated 07/12/23 № 2023/055/30-BP, concluded between the Tretyakov Gallery and the Trinity Sergius Lavra, the Tretyakov Gallery has the right to regularly verify the state of preservation with the removal of a museum item from a specialized climatic showcase and relocation to a room on the territory of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, meeting the requirements set out in the annex to the agreement.
Within the framework of this provision of the agreement, a planned reconciliation of the state of preservation of the icon "Holy Trinity" of 1422-1427 is carried out in accordance with the procedure established by it. By Andrey Rublev.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
