The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on fixing the mandatory presence of crosses above the scepter and the state in the description of the State Emblem of the Russian Federation.
According to the new rules, after the words "in the right paw of the eagle is a scepter, in the left - a power" it will be indicated that "small crowns, a large crown and a power are crowned with straight equilateral four-pointed crosses with flaring ends."
The bill was sponsored by 412 deputies led by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. He expressed confidence that "everything must be done to prevent the distortion of the symbols of our statehood." Earlier, he spoke about numerous appeals from citizens on the topic of the absence of crosses or their replacement with other elements in some images of state symbols.
