On June 18, 2024, a significant meeting took place at the Holy Archdiocese of Athens between Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece and Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem. The two religious leaders jointly called for an end to the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the website of the Athens Archdiocese.

In their appeal, Patriarch Theophilos and Archbishop Ieronymos emphasized the necessity of peaceful negotiations and expressed profound concern for the safety of civilians, particularly children and the elderly, who are caught in the conflict zone. Archbishop Ieronymos highlighted the importance of international support and finding ways to assist those affected by the violence.

Patriarch Theophilos, thanking Archbishop Ieronymos for his hospitality and brotherly love, stressed that stopping the war and achieving peace should be top priorities. At the conclusion of their meeting, the Church leaders expressed hope for a swift resolution of the conflict and the restoration of peace in the region.
