Bishop Savvaty of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan took part in the international conference "Good Neighborliness of Cultures of Central Asian countries in the 21st Century", which was held in Astana at the site of the NGO "International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue".
The forum brought together representatives of traditional religions, experts, scientists and public figures. The participants discussed issues that today require not only scientific and technological, but also serious moral reflection: the climate challenges of our time, environmental responsibility, sustainable development, as well as the ethical principles of using artificial intelligence.
The conference reviewed draft documents on the role of religious communities in overcoming climate problems, as well as a draft Code of Ethics for the use of artificial intelligence.
Bishop Savvaty of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan participated in the conference in an online format from the Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan dioceses. In his speech, the archpastor drew attention to the spiritual dimension of human interaction with modern technologies, stressing that artificial intelligence cannot be considered only as a tool of technological progress.
"AI can translate words, but only faith and love establish mutual understanding and joy of hearts," said Bishop Savvaty.
His Eminence stressed that the rapid development of digital technologies poses new moral questions for society. According to him, it is especially important that artificial intelligence serves people, peace, good neighborliness and strengthening mutual respect between peoples, and does not replace live communication, personal responsibility and spiritual development of the individual.
Following the meeting, the conference participants noted the need to move from interreligious dialogue to practical cooperation in matters of preserving peace, sustainable development, environmental responsibility and the development of common moral principles for the use of new technologies.
The participation of representatives of traditional religions in discussing issues related to the future of artificial intelligence is becoming especially important in an environment where technologies are developing faster than society has time to comprehend their consequences.
