Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America delivered a lecture at the First National Congress on Oriental Studies on May 14, 2025. The event was organized by the Oriental Studies and Research Department of the Faculty of Philosophy, Humanities and Arts of the National University of San Juan Province (Argentine Republic), whose Legislative Assembly declared the Congress an event of cultural interest.
At the invitation of Jorge Lorenzo, President of the FIPPE Foundation, Cristina Espejo, Director of the Oriental Studies and Research Department at the Faculty of Philosophy, and Mirian Arrabal, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts at the National University of San Juan, Bishop Leonid gave a lecture on Orthodoxy, the telegram channel of the Argentine Diocese reports.
The hierarch also briefly introduced teachers and students to the history of the Russian Orthodox Church and spoke about an important date – the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. At the end of his speech, he proposed to honor the memory of those who died during the war with a minute of silence.
The event was held via remote communication in Russian and Spanish.
