The clergy of Burundi, led by Reverend Priest Dimitri Ntahonshikiy, visited the capital of the country, Gitega, on August 8, 2026. The trip was attended by Priest Epiphanius Akizimana, Priest Nikolai Birigimana and Deacon Thomas Nisengwe.
On this day, the clergy met
with representatives of other Christian denominations, including community leaders interested in Orthodoxy.
After the Raid, the mission continued in Muying, in the province of the same name in the northeast of the country, where Priest Dimitri went with Deacon Thomas at the invitation of the Orthodox believer.
Father Dimitri gave the parishioner Holy Communion, gave him holy water and anointed him with oil.
During the visit, many local residents expressed a desire to learn more about Orthodoxy.
Father Dimitri and Deacon Thomas told them about the Orthodox Church, the apostolic succession, and discussed the possibility of accepting those who wish to convert to the Orthodox faith.
