On the feast of the Venerable Trees of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, on August 14, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Constantine of Cairo and North Africa, consecrated the foundation stone of the future church in honor of the Apostle James Alfeyev in Igembe village (deanery of Meru) in Kenya.
The divine service was attended by the dean of the district, Priest Theoklit Kitindzhi, the rector of the parish, Priest Serafim Muriti, the clergy of the deanery, and parishioners.
His Eminence delivered an archpastoral address and presented the community with an icon of the Savior. All believers were presented with crosses and icons.
On the same day, the exarch visited the parish of St. Athanasius the Great in the village of Antuamvuo, where he was warmly welcomed by the rector of the parish, Priest Epiphanius Kaiche, and the parishioners. In the Ura River, which flows a few steps from the temple, Vladyka performed the sacrament of Baptism for eight people. Metropolitan Konstantin congratulated the newly baptized on receiving the sacrament, uttered parting words and presented the parish with a set of protection rings.
