Within the framework of the XVII Interregional Conference on Social Service in Yekaterinburg, a session "Assistance to veterans of a special military operation and their families: practical support, parish support and interdepartmental interaction" was held.
The participants of the session shared their experience of returning veterans of a special military operation to a peaceful life, as well as helping widows and mothers of deceased relatives.
The head of the service for spiritual and psychological assistance to those who returned from the front and their families of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, Priest Evgeny Lishchenyuk, noted that the key topic in working with veterans is their self-identification in a peaceful life. The social rehabilitation of veterans is complicated by the fact that they often do not seek help on their own.
Coordinator of the "Let's live!" project Archpriest Viktor Velchinsky of the Yekaterinburg Diocese spoke about cooperation with the families of veterans of a special military operation, as well as about training in this work in the Yekaterinburg diocese. According to him, the only way out of this crisis can be a spiritual life.
The XVII Interregional Conference on Church Social Service was held in Yekaterinburg with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on October 27-30. The forum was attended by more than 360 people responsible for church charity in the Ural Federal District: heads of social departments of dioceses, coordinators of church volunteer services responsible for helping those who returned from the front, senior sisters and confessors of the sisterhoods of mercy, heads of church aid projects, as well as government representatives. The conference was organized by the Synodal Department for Charity, the Yekaterinburg Diocese, and the Orthodox Mercy Service of Yekaterinburg.
