The Monk Job, Abbot of Pochaev, wonderworker (in the world Ivan Iron), was born in the middle of the XVI century in Pokutia in Galicia. At the age of 10, he entered the Preobrazhensky Ugornitsky Monastery, and at the age of 12 he became a monk. From his youth, the Monk Job was known for his great piety, strict ascetic life, and was awarded priestly dignity at an early age. Around 1580, at the request of a well-known advocate of Orthodoxy, Prince Konstantin Ostrogsky, he headed the Holy Cross Monastery near the city of Dubno and managed the monastery for more than 20 years amid increasing persecution of Orthodoxy by Catholics and Uniates. 
At the beginning of the 17th century, the monk retired to Pochaev Mountain and settled in a cave near the ancient Dormition Monastery, famous for its miraculous Pochaev icon of the Mother of God. The brothers of the monastery, having come to love the holy hermit, chose him as their abbot. Reverend Job, zealously fulfilling the position of abbot, was meek and affectionate with his brothers, he worked a lot himself, planted trees in the garden, strengthened dams near the monastery. Taking an active part in the defense of Orthodoxy and the Russian nationality, St. Job attended the Kiev Council of 1628, convened against the union. After 1642, the Monk Job accepted the great schema with the name John. Sometimes he would completely shut himself in a cave for three days or for a whole week. The Jesus prayer was the unceasing work of his meek heart. According to the testimony of a disciple and compiler of the life of St. Job Dositheus, one day, during the monk's prayer, a heavenly light shone around the cave. Reverend Job died in 1651, having lived for more than 100 years, after managing the Pochaev monastery for fifty years. On August 28, 1659, the glorification of St. Job took place.
The Monk Job of Pochaev died on October 28, 1651. On August 28, 1833, the relics of St. Job were solemnly opened for public worship. In 1902, the Holy Synod decided on this day to carry the holy relics of St. Job around the Dormition Cathedral of the Pochaev Lavra after the Divine Liturgy.
