The Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service has handed over special equipment to drain the homes of the affected residents of Buguruslan and Buguruslansky district in Orenburg region, where hundreds of residential buildings and homesteads were flooded due to incessant rains.
Currently, according to the head of the missionary department of the Buzuluk diocese, rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Buguruslan, Priest Maxim Zaiko, the water has subsided, and the houses are being cleaned. He noted that dehumidifiers are needed now to eliminate dampness in homes. Residents are asking for mattresses, pillows, chlorine tablets, furniture for the first time, tables, beds.
A collection has been organized on the online platform "Let's Help" to help the injured residents of Buguruslan.
"The Synodal Department for Charity has quite a lot of experience in helping flood victims together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations," said Deacon Igor Kulikov, Director of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission and Head of the Social Ministry Department of the Synodal Department for Charity. — First of all, five industrial dehumidifiers of the same models were purchased, which proved themselves in the aftermath of flooding in Krymsk, Tulun, Orsk and the Kherson region. Thanks to the donors of the "Let's Help" platform, the next batch of special equipment is already being prepared for purchase."
Also, with the blessing of Bishop Irinej of Orsk and Gaisky, special equipment was sent to Buguruslansky district for victims to eliminate the consequences of flooding, pumping water from houses and drying them, which in 2024 was used to help victims in Orsk: three dehumidifiers, nine motor pumps, 2.5 kilometers of hoses. Archpriest Vyacheslav Kochkin, head of the social department of the Orsk Diocese, shared his experience in draining houses while handing over the equipment.
On June 23, an inter-municipal emergency regime was introduced in Buguruslan and Buguruslan district due to heavy rains. Hundreds of residential buildings and private plots were flooded. Since June 24, material and financial assistance has been provided to the affected areas from all over the country.
