On July 2, 2026, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, a round table "Practical fulfillment of monastic vows in modern conditions" was held in Kostroma.
The event was attended by bishops, hegumens and abbesses, monastics from the metropolitans of Ivanovo, Vladimir, Kostroma and Yaroslavl.
Before the start of the round table, a conciliar Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Epiphany Cathedral of the Kostroma Kremlin by the episcopal order with the participation of the guests of the diocese.
Metropolitan Nikander of Vladimir and Suzdal and Metropolitan Ferapont of Kostroma and Nerekhta addressed the participants with welcoming words.
During the meeting, the participants discussed issues of practical fulfillment of monastic vows, the importance of obedience, inner freedom, the role of the abbot in the spiritual life of the monastery, as well as modern challenges faced by monastics.
Presentations were made by representatives of monasteries and dioceses of the Ivanovo, Vladimir, Kostroma and Yaroslavl metropolitanates. The topics of the speeches were devoted to monastic vows, the spiritual experience of modern ascetics, the traditions of monastic life, the rule and obedience as a free following of the will of God.
The round table became a platform for the exchange of experience and joint reflection on the essence of the monastic feat in the modern world.
