The Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service announced an urgent fundraiser for the purchase of heating equipment and humanitarian aid for residents of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions suffering from power and heating outages.
It is especially difficult for the elderly, people with disabilities and families who cannot independently provide themselves with the necessary means of heating.
"In some towns and villages, there has been no electricity or gas for several months, and people are already freezing," said Deacon Igor Kulikov, director of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission.
According to him, residents are increasingly turning to the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission's assistance centers with requests for gas cylinders, generators, autonomous power plants, heating appliances, coal and warm clothes.
A special collection has been opened on the Orthodox charity platform "Let's Help". First of all, it is planned to purchase at least 40 autonomous power plants, which will ensure the operation of heating equipment and charging of communications equipment. The average cost of one such station is 100 thousand rubles.
The funds raised will also be used to purchase gas cylinders, generators, heating devices, warm clothes, medicines, food and hygiene products.
The aid is intended primarily for the wards of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission centers in Alyoshki, Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Donetsk, Lisichansk, Tokmak and Gorlovka. Among them, there are more than 7,000 elderly and people with disabilities.
At the end of October, employees of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church delivered humanitarian aid to residents of the Kherson region. In particular, on October 30, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, two tons of food and medicines were transferred to Alyoshek City Hospital. Evacuated residents of the city who are in medical institutions in Simferopol also received assistance.
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission continues to work to support the injured civilians. There are 12 Mission assistance centers in Donbas and the border regions. During their work, more than 430,000 appeals have been processed, and over 4,510 tons of humanitarian supplies have been delivered to those in need.
