Twenty communicants, two newly baptized soldiers and consecrated armored vehicles — this is how Priest Vitaly Sambursky met with one of the units of the Ministry of Defense on the borders of the Kursk region.
The pastor's visit began with the main thing: a prayer service for Holy Russia and sprinkling of holy water on the personnel. Participation in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confession and Communion right in the conditions of the frontier gives the fighters that inner support, without which it is impossible to withstand the tremendous strain of combat work.
During the conversation with the soldiers and officers, Father Vitaly raised the most important topic of spiritual security in wartime. On the front line, the enemy attacks not only with shells, but also with fear, despondency, and bitterness. The ability to maintain inner purity, trust in God and loyalty to one's duty is the shield that helps a warrior to remain human even in the most difficult trials.
The priest handed over crosses, prayer books and chevrons to the soldiers, and also delivered humanitarian aid collected by the parish. The constant presence of the Church next to its defenders proves that the spiritual and logistical front is working in unison with the army today.
