The Institute of Bible Translation has completed the publication of the book "Song of Songs" in the Yakut language. The issue is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the people's writer of Yakutia D.K. Sivtsev (Suorun Omolloon), whose translation formed the basis of the publication. The book is being published with the blessing of Archbishop Roman of Yakutsk and Lena as part of a project to create a complete translation of the Bible into the Sakha language.
The translation of the Song of Songs, one of the most poetic books of the Old Testament, required long and painstaking work. The foundation of the translation was laid by Suorun Omolloon, the final refinement was carried out by the theological editor S.A. Leontieva, the philological editor O.N. Koryakina-Umsuura, the consultant on biblical studies A.B. Somov and the reviewer N.N. Efremov.
Previously, the New Testament, the Psalter, the Book of Proverbs and other biblical books were published as part of the project. The release of The Song of Songs is an important step towards completing the complete translation of the Bible into the Yakut language. The new edition is aimed at a wide range of readers.
