The number of Russian Orthodox Church priests in Uganda has doubled in the span of a year, according to the press service of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. Recently, the third deanery was established in the country.

On October 18, a cathedral liturgy took place in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, with the participation of 22 clergy members, including priests and deacons from the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. Following the liturgy, Father Georgy Maksimov, the head of the Missionary Department of the Exarchate, presided over a general assembly of the clergy of the Patriarchal Exarchate in Uganda.

"I have noted significant growth in our clergy in the country, which has doubled in the past year. A new, third deanery was established in the country. Many issues have been openly discussed, and paths for solutions have been outlined," Father Georgy stated in his Telegram channel.

During the assembly, the head of the Missionary Department distributed books, icons, incense, liturgical items, pectoral crosses, and vestments to the clergy. Additionally, a prayer book in the Acholi language was presented. Copies of this book were handed to priests serving in the Northern deanery, where the Acholi people reside.
