Turkish investigators have identified the man who ordered the attack at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Istanbul. According to the A-Haber TV channel, citing information from the Istanbul Security Department, it was possible to find out the identity thanks to hacking the phone of one of the attackers.
Specialists of the department for combating cybercrimes have gained access to the correspondence of terrorists in messengers. The TV channel also publishes a photo of the person who gave the order, he is a man named Adam Khamirzaev. He's been arrested. Also, in the correspondence of one of the performers, Amirjon Kholikov, phrases were found that he was "going to jihad."
Two attackers reportedly traveled to Kayseri province in Central Turkey in a car with Polish license plates about three weeks before the crime, which was brought to Turkey in November 2022 by a certain Abdullo Buriev, who left the territory of the republic two days later. In Kayseri, they stayed at a hotel and participated in a meeting of the so-called Tajik cell "Vilayat Khorasan" (banned in the Russian Federation) and the terrorist group IS (banned in the Russian Federation). The meeting discussed the details of the planned terrorist attack.
