Exactly 34 years ago, a terrible tragedy struck the Tuapse region. Residents of the villages of Georgievsky and Anastasievka suffered the most. 
On August 1, 2025, in the village of Georgievskoye, Tuapse district, at the monument to the victims of the flood, the memory of those whose lives were claimed by the elements in 1991 was honored. 
Villagers, public figures, and young people gathered at the monument. They honored the memory of the victims with a memorial service, and flowers were laid at the memorial.
Everyone present recalled the terrible ordeal that befell the residents of the area and prayed for those who died as a result of the disaster.

The 1991 Tuapse flood occurred on the night of July 31 to August 1. Heavy rains hit the Black Sea coast between the cities of Sochi and Tuapse, which caused flooding in mountain rivers. The resulting streams of water and mud demolished bridges and buildings, washed out roads, and flooded farmland. 
The disaster was caused by a huge tornado passing through the surrounding mountains, which increased the effect of heavy precipitation and caused a series of landslides. The height of the water column in the territory adjacent to Tuapse reached eight meters. 
27 people became victims of the flood, mostly in the village of Georgievsky in the Tuapse region. The disaster destroyed the Tuapse oil depot, roads, the railway connecting Tuapse and Sochi, and the main gas pipeline.
