The annual water procession from Sestroretsk to the forts of Kronstadt took place on August 16. It was organized by the Life Center, the parish of the Church of the Port Arthur Icon of the Mother of God and the diocesan Commission for Family, Maternity and Childhood Protection with the support of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

In Sestroretsk's Dubki Park, the protesters marched to the pier with prayer chants. A prayer service was held in front of the icon of the "Triumph of the Most Holy Theotokos".

The route passed through the water area near the historical forts. In Totleben, Acting Chairman of the commission, Priest Rustik Sivolapov, celebrated a prayer service at the site of the destroyed church of Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene.

"The sea procession is not just moving with an icon on the water, but a spiritual event in which prayer unites people, the shrine and the space around it, giving it a sacred character. We receive the blessing of the Blessed Virgin Mary, perpetuate the feat of our ancestors and arouse the interest of young people in the history of Russia," said Father Rustik.

The tradition originated in 2023, and water processions are held annually.
