On September 9, 2026, with the blessing of Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, with the support of the Stavropol Territory Administration for the Preservation and State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites, an inter-diocesan conference "Current Legislative Changes in the field of cultural Heritage Preservation" was held at the Radonezh Spiritual and Educational Center in Stavropol.
The event was held as part of the activities of the inter-diocesan Architectural and Construction Board of the Stavropol Archdiocese and was devoted to practical issues of the application of current legislation in the preservation, maintenance and repair of churches — objects of cultural heritage.
The conference was attended by the rectors of the memorial churches of the three dioceses of the Stavropol Archdiocese, representatives of the construction commissions of the deaneries and experts in the field of cultural heritage preservation.
During the meeting, current legislative changes and the specifics of work in memorial churches were discussed. The participants paid special attention to the procedure for issuing notifications and necessary documentation, requirements for repairs, replacement of roofs, windows and doors, utilities, placement of air conditioners and gas equipment.
They also discussed issues of carrying out work in churches for which the subject of protection has not been approved, cleaning facades and temple murals, as well as bringing the names of monuments in line with the canonical names of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Representatives of the regional Department for the Preservation and State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites answered in detail the questions of the rectors and gave practical explanations on the application of current legal requirements.
In conclusion, the conference participants reviewed the specific situations that parishes face when maintaining and restoring memorial churches, and received clarifications from relevant specialists.
