The Days of Russian Spiritual Culture will be held in the Republic of Serbia. The program promises to be rich: it will include concerts, master classes, exhibition projects, film screenings and other events dedicated to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Russia.
One of the notable events will be the exhibition "On World Peace", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The audience will also be presented with the film "The Shepherd's Work", which tells about the ministry of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Before the opening of the Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia, Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, addressed the participants and guests. In her greeting, she emphasized the special closeness of Russia and Serbia, linked by common historical memory, spiritual traditions and cultural values that are passed down from generation to generation. The Minister also noted that performances by Russian artists in Serbia traditionally arouse great interest and a warm response from the public.
This year, the Patriarchal Choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the Ensemble of Young Soloists of the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia named after N. P. Osipov will perform in Serbia.
Concerts of the Patriarchal Choir will be held at two significant Orthodox venues. On June 8, the band will perform at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Sremski Karlovci, and on June 9 at St. Sava's Church in Belgrade. The choir will perform works of Russian and world sacred music.
The Patriarchal Choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, led by Regent Ilya Tolkachev, is known for its careful attitude to the traditions of church singing and its high level of performance. His concerts become not only a musical event, but also an opportunity to touch the spiritual beauty that unites people of different countries and cultures through art.
The program of performances is structured as a musical conversation of eras and traditions. It will combine ancient church chants, the Russian choral school of the XIX–XX centuries, works by Soviet composers, Western European classics and modern sacred music.
Serbian audiences will hear works by Georgy Sviridov, Pavel Chesnokov, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Golovanov, Alfred Schnittke, as well as works by Anton Bruckner, Arvo Pärt and Ola Gyelo.
The Days of Russian Spiritual Culture in Serbia are designed to strengthen humanitarian ties between the two countries, remind of common spiritual foundations and present to the Serbian audience the richness of Russian musical and cultural tradition.
