On June 3, students of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory performed works by Russian and foreign composers. The musicians performed works by Russian and foreign composers — Mozart, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov — with lively stories about music. At the same time, the guests had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission and the Church's assistance to the affected people in Donbas and Novorossiya.
Many of the guests were sensitive to the topic of helping those who found themselves in a difficult situation in the conflict zone, learned the details and supported the collection of donations.
"Participation in various events, including cultural ones, allows us to tell a new audience about the work of volunteers in Donbas and Novorossiya," says Natalia Letavina, head of the Development Department of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission. — It is important for us to support this agenda.: Thousands of people in the conflict zone live in destroyed houses, without water and electricity; many have problems with documents and social benefits. Hospital medical staff need help because of the constant workload. In order to organize assistance on a permanent basis, we need support and new volunteers every month."
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission expresses its deep gratitude to the administration of the Meridian Cultural Center for the partnership and the opportunity to host the concert, as well as to the creative teams, all artists and teachers for their contributions.
The Russian Orthodox Church has been helping civilians in Donbas since February 2022. There are 12 church aid centers in the border areas, Moscow and the conflict zone, which have processed over 405,000 requests. More than 4,350 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the victims. More than 7,400 volunteers participated in helping the victims. Over 789 private homes have been restored as part of the project to restore private housing for those in need in the conflict zone. The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission coordinates the social assistance of the Church in the regions of the SVR zone.
