A project for the construction of a white stone church in honor of the participants of a special military operation is being developed in Pskov. This was announced by Priest Dimitri Vasiliev in an interview with a correspondent of the Pskov Information Agency.
The temple will be erected on Rokossovsky Street, where the temporary church of Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg is now located. It is planned that it will be created in the image of the temples of the Pskov architectural school with all the traditional elements. It will accommodate about 400-500 people.
"Later, the issue of interior decoration will be decided: the iconostasis, the panikadilo, whether there will be frescoes or only icons. Now, for the most part, the general appearance of the building and its facade are being worked out," said Father Dimitri.
According to the priest, the location of the new church was not chosen by chance: far Zavelichye is a rapidly developing area where there is not a single temple yet, and therefore many people, including the elderly, have to travel to worship services in the city center.
The initiator of the construction of the temple is Metropolitan Matthew of Pskov and Porkhovsky, the project is being implemented by the Pskov Diocese with the blessing of His Eminence. The concept will be coordinated with Mikhail Vedernikov, Governor of the Pskov Region, and the city authorities.
