On Tuesday of Holy Week, May 7, 2024, celebrations were held at the Pokrovsky Stavropol Convent in Moscow on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the canonization of St. Blessed Matrona of Moscow. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the divine service was led by the chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, the vicar of the Don Stavropol Monastery, Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira.
Upon arrival at the monastery, the archpastor worshiped the venerable relics of Blessed Matrona resting in the Intercession Church, and then led the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Resurrection of the Living.
The abbess of the monastery, Abbess Theophania (Miskina), and her sisters, pupils of the monastery orphanage, parishioners and pilgrims prayed at the service.
The liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the Pokrovsky Monastery.
The service was broadcast on the Soyuz TV channel. For the convenience of the faithful, the service was broadcast on a large screen installed on the monastery square.
Special petitions were made at a special litany, and Metropolitan Theognost read a prayer for Holy Russia. The sermon before communion was delivered by the cleric of the Pokrovsky Monastery, Priest Sergiy Petrov.
At the end of the service, an Easter procession and a prayer service were held at the relics of Blessed Marona of Moscow. Metropolitan Theognost congratulated Abbess Theophany and the inhabitants of the monastery on the holiday and addressed the audience with a sermon.
A free festive meal was organized for all pilgrims during the day — lunch and tea with monastery pastries.
