During the work, a concrete blind area was filled around the temple, which was lined with granite slabs brought from Karelia. A surface drainage system was installed to collect rain and meltwater from the roof of the cathedral and drain it into the storm sewer system.

The Epiphany Cathedral was built on the site of the former cathedral in 1821-1833 with donations from benefactors, with the blessing of Archbishop Simeon of Tver, designed by architect Joseph Charlemagne and consecrated in 1833 by Archbishop Gregory of Tver.
The Russian National Library of St. Petersburg has a plan of the Epiphany Cathedral, signed by this architect, as well as a signature confirming the participation of this project in the competition for the construction of St. Isaac's Cathedral in the capital. Archival documents show that preparations for the construction were carried out for several years, and projects for rebuilding and reconstructing the old cathedral were also put forward. Its construction was carried out under the supervision of the "master of stone works" architect Angelo Botani. The archives show that the abbot of the monastery and the board of trustees carefully reviewed all projects, selected workers and purchased building materials. Granite stone imported from Karelia was used in the construction of the cathedral. It formed the basis of the foundation, and stone staircases were built from it from the western, northern and southern sides of the cathedral, which have survived to the present day.
The foundation of the Epiphany Cathedral has been strengthened at the Nilo-Stolobenskaya Monastery.
