On October 15, 2026, the Museum of Christian Art of the Moscow Theological Academy opened the exhibition "Fascination with Antiquity", which for the first time presented to the general public a unique collection assembled by Bishop Theophylact (Moiseev; 1949-2023), a famous archpastor, archivist historian and zealot of church antiquity.
The exhibition introduces visitors to the museum with rare monuments of church art, which Vladyka carefully collected and preserved throughout his life.
The exhibition was opened by the director of the museum A.S. Novikov and the head of the restoration workshop of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, a teacher of the Icon painting Faculty of the Moscow State Academy of Fine Arts N.E. Aldoshina.
Bishop Theophylact, a native of the Smolensk region, graduated from the Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute (1975), the Moscow Theological Seminary (1980) and the Academy (1984). In 1983, he was tonsured a monk at the Trinity Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra and devoted his entire life to serving the Russian Orthodox Church in various regions of our country. At the same time, he always had a keen interest in the history and culture of his people: he participated in ethnographic expeditions, collected archival documents and objects of folk and decorative arts.
