The Church of the Resurrection in Captivity on the St. Andrew's Embankment will be restored. The corresponding decision was made by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. This is reported on the official website of the mayor of Moscow.
"The brick church is part of the architectural ensemble of the St. Andrew's Monastery and is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. The building was built in 1689-1703 in the Moscow Baroque style. After the abolition of the monastery in 1764, the Resurrection Church was converted into a parish church, and the rest of the churches of the former monastery were assigned to it. Since that time, it has been assigned the current name associated with the ancient name of the area — the Church of the Resurrection in Captivity," the publication notes.
To date, the architectural monument is in satisfactory condition, however, there has been a partial destruction of the brickwork of the main staircases leading to the gulch, there are damages in the area of the staircase space, as well as numerous traces of wetting and leaks. In the coming years, work will be carried out in the Church of the Resurrection in Captivity, thanks to which it will be possible to preserve the historical appearance of the building.
