On September 13, 2026, readings in memory of St. Seraphim the Martyr, Archimandrite Zhirovichsky (1901-1946), dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the ascetic's repose and the 125th anniversary of his birth, were held in the assembly hall of the Minsk Theological Seminary. 
At the beginning of the meeting, the rector of the seminary, Archpriest Viktor Vasilevich, read out the welcoming speech of the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, after which he delivered an introductory speech. Father Victor noted the importance of the event, as the reminder of the ascetics strengthens faith, supports the invisible bond of generations and sets an example of the sanctity of life to contemporaries.
Archbishop Guriy of Novogrudok and Slonim addressed the participants of the readings, the vicar of the Assumption of Zhirovichi Monastery. At the end of his speech, Bishop Gury blessed the beginning of the forum.
Then the floor was given to Alexander Slesarev, Vice-rector for Research, who called on the seminary's teachers and students to contribute to the development of research on St. Seraphim, if possible. An exhibition dedicated to the ascetic was placed in the assembly hall of the seminary: a photograph of the Holy Martyr Seraphim, taken during the Great Patriotic War, as well as his letter to his spiritual daughter Olga.
""The Monk-Martyr Seraphim (Shakhmut), Archimandrite of Zhirovichi: life and church ministry" by Protodeacon Georgy Pshenko, lecturer at the Minsk Theological Seminary, Candidate of Theology; "The situation of the Zhirovichi Monastery in 1922-1939" by Protodeacon Pavel Bubnov, lecturer at the Minsk Theological Seminary, Candidate of theology were heard during the meeting.
Archpriest Gennady Login, lecturer at the Minsk Theological Academy, Candidate of Theology, Master of Historical Sciences, presented the report "The Zhirovichi Monastery in the memoirs of S.T. Tsebrikova (1874-1967)." During his speech, Father Gennady read and commented on the memoirs from the original notebook of Sofya Tsebrikova, the wife of one of the teachers of the Seminary of the first Renaissance, Mikhail Tsebrikov. The memoirs were addressed to Metropolitan Anthony (Melnikov).
After Father Gennady's report, the rector of the seminary, on behalf of all those present, congratulated him on his namesake day and presented him with an image of the Zhirovichi Icon of the Mother of God.
At the end, the participants of the readings sang the greatness of St. Seraphim the Martyr, Archimandrite Zhirovichsky.
St. Seraphim the Martyr (Roman Romanovich Shakhmut in the world) was born in 1901. In 1922, he entered the Zhirovichi Monastery, where he soon took monastic vows. In 1939, he was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite. During the Great Patriotic War, he worked hard to restore church life in the occupied territories. He was arrested in 1944 and died in custody in 1946. In 1999, he was canonized as a local saint of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, and in 2000 his name was included in the Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
