On June 10, 2026, the Central Museum of Physical Culture and Sports under the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation hosted the opening ceremony of the exhibition dedicated to the Patriarchal International Festival of Martial Arts and Martial Arts "Cup of Equal-to-the-Apostles Nicholas of Japan."
The leading speaker of the event was Archpriest Kirill Sokolov, Chairman of the Commission on Physical Culture and Sports of the Moscow Archdiocese, Adviser to the Minister of Sports of the Moscow Region.
The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Union of Orthodox Martial Artists, representatives of the Patriarchal Commission on Physical Culture and Sports, representatives of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, participants in a special military operation, representatives of the DPR, participants of the festival, representatives of the clergy, law enforcement agencies, culture, and sports.
Archpriest Kirill Sokolov donated a set of medals from previous years to the Museum of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of Russia A.Y. Kuznetsova noted that the exhibition will be a bright event that will draw the attention of the general public to the development of Russia's sports traditions, the achievements of our country in the field of sports and physical culture, and will also assist in the preservation and popularization of traditional spiritual and moral values in Russian society.
At the end of the opening ceremony, everyone could get acquainted with the exposition and ask questions to the clergy.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
