Last week, the faithful at the parish of the Great Martyr Catherine in the village of Matara (Nandi deanery) in Kenya received assistance for the development of agriculture.
On February 26, 2026, on the Wednesday of the first week of Great Lent, at the end of the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, Dean Priest Titus Kipngheni handed over bags of fertilizer to parishioners in need.
Agriculture in Kenya employs a significant part of the population. The locals grow corn, legumes, tea and other crops.
In total, 150 kg of highly concentrated phosphorous fertilizer for agricultural needs were transferred to the wards, which was made possible by the operation of the poultry farm, which was opened upon arrival in 2023.
The support was provided by members of the Union of Orthodox Mothers, who were trained at a specialized seminar on agricultural skills.
