African priests in the Parish of St. Macarius the Great in the village of Ochiro in Kenya conducted a liturgy on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas. This was reported on the website of the Patriarchate Exarchate of Africa.

"On January 7, on the feast of the Nativity of the Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ, a solemn Divine Liturgy took place at the parish of St. Macarius the Great in the village of Ochiro in Kenya, in which all the priests of the Homabay deanery participated. The collective service was led by the dean, priest Angelos Oribe, along with Mark Ondigo, John Jaybs, Evlogios Oyayya, Minas Benson, and Innocent Achar," the statement said.

It is noted that more than 100 parishioners from six parishes of the deanery took part in the service. On the same day, a training seminar for youth, which lasted for five days at the parish, came to an end. During the seminar, topics such as the history of the Universal Orthodox Church, apostolic succession, the Great Schism, the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as themes of spiritual and moral content, were discussed.

The Russian Church received official registration in Kenya in early 2023. Currently, there are nine deaneries of the Patriarchate Exarchate of Africa operating in the country. During this time, 993 people from 22 parishes have completed a course of lectures on Sacred Scripture and Catechism. Many Kenyan priests have successfully completed theological online courses at the Moscow Theological Academy; three Kenyan students are studying in Russian seminaries, and another ten are preparing for admission. In addition, as reported at the meeting of the deaneries, four Kenyans have been selected to undergo pastoral courses in Moscow; two have already started their studies, and two more will join them soon.

The Russian Church supports two Orthodox children's homes in Kenya: one is located in Nyabigenge, and the other in Rigena. Wells are being equipped for the homes, livestock is purchased, assistance is provided with repairs, and children from poor Orthodox families are helped to pay for their education.
