The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the village of Krasnoe, Staritsky district, was built in a pseudo-Gothic style in 1790 by state councilor Mark Fedorovich Poltoratsky. The temple is an almost exact copy of the Chesma Church in St. Petersburg, there are only two such temples in Russia.
2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the resumption of parish life of the Transfiguration Church (1999).

On November 23, Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashinsky visited the parish and performed the Great Consecration of the Transfiguration Church and the Divine Liturgy on the consecrated throne. 
After reading the Gospel, the archpastor addressed the parishioners with a sermon:
"Each of us is able to bring light into the life of another person by extending a helping hand to those who are nearby and who need us. God does not send these people to us by chance. Meeting them with an open heart, we fulfill His will and become participants in the great work of transforming the world. Small acts of mercy add up to a great flow of love, which is able to overcome any obstacles. After all, God works among people with our hands." 
Sometimes it will seem to us that we are powerless, as it seemed to the apostles who could not heal this boy. And at such moments, we will ask God to act in us Himself and do the work before which we give up. And God, seeing the intention and the truth, will certainly do it.
At a special litany, special petitions were made, a prayer was read for the construction of the bell tower of the Transfiguration Cathedral and a prayer for Holy Russia.
At the end of the service, Vladyka thanked everyone for their prayers and addressed the word:
"Unfortunately, the temple in Soviet times was very much abused, destroyed, and was in the abomination of desolation. It took quite a long time to get it in order. I thank the rector and his assistants for their efforts and wish your community to multiply and strengthen in the spirit of Christ. Remember the words that were spoken today during the Divine Liturgy during the reading of the 2nd Epistle to the Corinthians of St. Paul the Apostle: "for we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, so that everyone may receive according to what he did, good or bad." I wish there was nothing bad, but there was a lot of good."

The prototype of the cult building — the Transfiguration Church — was the church of the Chesmensky Palace in St. Petersburg, built by the famous architect Yu.M. Felten. The project turned out to be so successful that it received another incarnation — in the Lansky estate, in the Pskov region. 
In early November 1826, A.S. Pushkin visited the village of Krasnoe and could not help but see the temple, light and elegant in its forms.
The temple is made of brick with the use of white staritsky stone in the decor, in plan it is a "quatrefoil", the decoration of the facades of the temple is distinguished by its originality and arbitrary interpretation of Gothic motifs. The surface of the walls, treated with narrow vertical rods and pointed arches, is pierced by high lancet windows. Above the entrance there is a round window of the "Gothic rose" type. The composition of the portal includes sculptural images of angels. The walls are crowned with a low spongy parapet with pointed pinnacles typical of Gothic architecture. Turrets with pointed Gothic spires complete the main and four small domes of the church. Everything here speaks of an unstoppable desire to rise. The building is as if woven from openwork lace, full of refined elegance. 
In 1931, the church was closed. The bells of the temple were destroyed, the fence was removed and placed around the city garden in Staritsa. After the closure of the temple, its interior was completely lost, and a collective farm warehouse was located in it. In 1979-1982, the building was conserved (architect I. Avdeeva, engineer G. Brusok). 
On July 12, 1998, on the day of the First Apostles Peter and Paul, the Transfiguration Church reopened.
Since 1999, the church has resumed its liturgical life, and works have been carried out to preserve and restore the temple. Since 1999, the rector of the church has been priest Dimitri Kasparov.
The parish is actively engaged in social work, and there is a Sunday school at the church.
