The documentary film "People of Christ" was shown at the Ruhs Gymnasium in Tskhinvali. Our Time", which tells about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Kiev authorities.
The Russian House in Tskhinvali became the organizer of the show. The event was attended by Sergey Komissarov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the republic, and Ruslan Khubezhty, a member of Parliament.
Addressing the students, Sergey Komissarov emphasized the multi-confessional nature of Russia and South Ossetia, where freedom of religion is enshrined in law.
"Everyone knows that there are many religions in the world. There are also many confessions and religions in Russia, but there has never been harassment. This is also fixed at the legislative level. South Ossetia is also a very free country in this regard. But, unfortunately, things are not as smooth in the world as they are in ours," Komissarov said.
The head of the Russian House noted with regret the negative processes taking place in Ukraine related to the persecution of the canonical Church.
According to him, the West, seeking to create a split not only between Russians and Ukrainians, but also within Ukraine, has seriously taken up the traditional church and begun the process of oppression of believers.
"This angers not only us in Russia. The film we're going to watch today was shot by our Slavic brothers in Serbia. During the New Year holidays, it was demonstrated at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, which underlines the importance and urgency of the problem currently facing the world community. I hope that by watching the film, you and I will promote the true spiritual and moral values that our home, school, and the memory of our ancestors instill in us," Sergei Komissarov emphasized, wishing the students a pleasant viewing.
The creators of the film are the world-famous director Emir Kusturica, producer, president of the United Serbian Diaspora in St. Petersburg Mirko Radenovic and screenwriter Jovan Markovic.
