The World Russian People's Council supported the initiative to canonize Commander Alexander Suvorov, noting that it came from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. This was reported by the website of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The Council, therefore, relies on the earlier decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), which decided to refer the issue of the canonization of commander Suvorov to the relevant commission.
"The Synodal Commission for the Canonization of Saints will investigate in detail the available information about Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov, on the basis of which a decision can be made on his canonization," said Archpriest Kirill Kaleda, a member of the commission, rector of the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in Butovo, RIA Novosti reported.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
