With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Bryansk and Sevsk, in honor of the celebration of National Unity Day, a spiritual and educational event "Evening in the Cathedral" was held in the Bryansk Cathedral.

The participants of the meeting were offered an interactive and engaging program, during which they could not only gain new knowledge and skills, but also get into the spirit of Orthodox culture and iconography.

The meeting began with a presentation on the history of the cathedral's construction, which was conducted by Natalia Kundik, an employee of the information and publishing department of the Bryansk Diocese. The participants had a unique opportunity to see rare photo and video chronicles from the diocesan archive. The most attentive listeners received icons of St. Oleg of Bryansk and souvenirs as a gift.
Then the organizer of the event, Priest Daniel Kuzyankin, a cleric of the Bryansk Cathedral, spoke about the structure of the Divine Liturgy, demonstrated liturgical objects and explained their direct and semantic meaning.

After a short tea party, the guests immersed themselves in the world of the Church Slavonic language. Ksenia Vladimirovna Zyuzina, a teacher at the Center for the Training of Church Specialists, so captivated those present with a master class in calligraphy that many expressed a desire to continue their studies and even received homework.

The evening ended with a meaningful guided tour of the painting of the lower temple. Oksana Kornilova, a teacher of iconography at the Central Orthodox Church, shared important and interesting information about the structure of the painting and the meanings it carries. The audience also learned about what inspires icon painters in the process of their work and what difficulties they sometimes have to overcome.
The "Evening at the Cathedral" event was held for the first time, but it aroused the keen interest of the participants, which prompted the organizers to make such meetings regular.
